NEW ARTISTS ON OUR ROSTER
We are very happy to welcome on our roster Amira Medunjanin (Bosnia), Branko Galoic (Croatia) and Maurizio Geri Swingtet (Italy). After some informal and very successful collaborations during the past few years, they are now officially represented by CultureWorks in the German speaking countries and Central Europe.
"BELEM" NEW CD BY DIDIER LALOY & KATHY ADAM / CHINA TOUR S-TRES
"Belem" is the latest duo project by Belgian accordionist Didier Laloy and violoncellist Kathy Adam. Their debut album will be released by the Belgian high quality label Homerecords.be. Until then you can always have a look at the great video "Belem - Locked Doors Won't Stop the Music". In November Didier will be on a long tour through 16 major cities in China. And if you happen to be in Germany at the end of January, come and visit the tradefair Internationalen Kulturbörse in Freiburg (26.-29.01.2015) - Didier Laloy has been selected for a showcase with his trio S-Tres.

"JAZZTA PRASTA" BEST FILM AT MEDITERRANEO VIDEO FESTIVAL
On September 23, 2013 "Jazzta Prasta or Where are the Bulgarian Notes" (Andrey Slabakov, Camera Film Sofia, 2009), the documentary on Bulgarian accordion virtuoso Martin Lubenov, was awarded Best Film at the 16th edition of Mediterraneo Video Festival in Agropoli near Salerno (Italy). According to the jury the award was granted due to "the relevance of the topic, the insight into the little known world of traditional gypsy music, the focus on the reality of Central Europe, from the outskirts of Sofia to the distant Pakistan, accompanied by accordionist Martin Lubenov."
BORGHETTI ROADMOVIE AT WOMEX FILM MARKET
The charming roadmovie "Renato Borghetti Quarteto - Europa" by René Goya Filho (Estacao Filmes, Porto Alegre) was selected for a screening at the Womex Film Market. The 90 minutes documentary accompanies Renato Borghetti and his quartet on their European tours 2010 and 2011 and is based on the popular series "Borghetti na Estrada" (Globo TV RBS).
DONAUWELLENREITER SURF WITH CULTUREWORKS
It has happened again: From now on the Viennese Donauwellenreiter (Danubesurfers), ingenious wanderers between World-Pop-Jazz-Minimal, will surf with us, hopefully soon beyond the Austrian borders. The world needs this music!

We are happy and honoured to welcome two wonderful new projects on our roster: From 2013 CultureWorks will represent Portuguese jazz diva Maria Joao for Austria, Italy and Central Europe as well as the stunning Argentine twin sisters Las Hermanas Caronni in the German speaking countries, Italy and Central/Eastern Europe. New CDs have been released by Didier Laloy ("Didier Laloy & Tuur Florizoone"), Riccardo Tesi ("Cameristico"), Zamballarana ("Carnavale") and Mostar Sevdah Reunion ("Tales from a Forgotten City").
MARTIN LUBENOV AT THE "NUIT DE L'ACCORDÉON" IN PARIS
On September 8 a very special accordion night will happen in Paris: The Opening project of the Festival d'Ile de France will be hosted by Richard Galliano and his Tangaria Quartett as a well as invited top accordionists from four entirely different corners of the planet: Régis Gizavo (Madagascar), René Lacaille (Ile de la Réunion), Lulinha Alencar (Brazil), Martin Lubenov (Bulgaria).
DANCAS OCULTAS & MARIA JOAO IN LEIPZIG
A world première will happen on October 21 in Leipzig, Germany: Dancas Ocultas and world famous Portuguese jazz singer Maria Joao will perform together for the finale grande of the Akkordeon Akut! festival at the BMA factory in Leipzig.
MARIA KALANIEMI'S NEW RELEASE AKERÖ
Together with pianist Timo Alakotila, her musical companion of many years, Maria Kalaniemi has relased the new duo album AKERÖ which in March 2012 reached position 4 of the European World Music Charts. Two European media - the Dutch daily paper Het Parool and the Italian Jazz Site All About Jazz Italia selected ANDANÇAS as best cd of the year 2011. Parabens Renato! And some days ago the brandnew DVD RENATO BORGHETTI QUARTET EUROPA (René Goya Filho, Estacao Eletrica), based on the TV series "Borghetti Na Estrada", was presented in Porto Alegre. NEW RELEASES OF OUR ARTISTS
Although the times are far from easy for the music business, some of our artists have released wonderful albums during the past few months: Maria Kalaniemi's VILDA ROSOR remained in the Top Ten of the European World Music Charts for weeks, Riccardo Tesi & Banditaliana have already been as far as Australia to present MADREPERLA, and Juan Carlos Caceres & Tango Negro Trio have recently released their third album NO ME ROMPAS LAS BOLAS.
RENATO BORGHETTI RELEASE TOUR ANDANÇAS
The brand new CD ANDANÇAS (Saphrane Records/Music&Words) is the live recording of a concert at the Brussels club Muziekpublique in May 2009. This album represents something like the resume of 10 years touring in Europe – a time of investigating the musicians’ own roots, discovering new ways of musical expression and making a lot of new friends. The upcoming release tour in March and April will bring Renato Borgehtti and his fabulous quartet to seven different European countries.
STANDING OVATIONS FOR DANCAS OCULTAS AT WOMEX IN COPENHAGEN
At the first attempt the four Portuguese accordion wizards succeeded in entering the official Womex 2010 showcase selection, and after their closing concert at Koncerthuset in Copenhagen they were greeted with frenetic applause and standing ovations by an international audience of promoters, agents and media people. Congratulations to this wonderful band whom we have already been accompanying in the German speaking countries during the past few years - from now on CultureWorks will be the exclusive booking agency for Europe and Canada, non-exclusive for the rest of the world (exceptions see artist page).

MOSTAR SEVDAH REUNION ON TOUR IN CENTRAL EUROPE
The legerndary ensemble from Bosnia-Herzegovina will be touring Croatia, Austria, Germany, Czech Republic in October and November with a special program in hommage to Ljiljiana Buttler. In Vienna they will be joined by Slovenian singer Maja Osojnik who will perform together with the band some of the most beautiful songs of the "Mother of Gypsy Soul".
RENATO BORGHETTI SUMMER TOUR FULL SUCCESS
15 concerts in eight countries in four weeks - from Portugal to Finland, from London to Budapest the Gaúchos met happy faces and sold-out venues. Part of the travelling party were the film makers René Goya und Pablo Chasseraux from Estacao Eletrica, who are preparing a road movie for Brazilian Television as well as a new DVD on Renato Borghetti. DANCAS OCULTAS AT WOMEX 2010!
For a second time in a row CultureWorks artists have been selected for a Womex showcase: this year Dancas Ocultas, the magical accordion quartet from Portugal, will appear in Copenhagen in front of an audience of world music professionals from all over the world.
LJILJANA BUTTLER (1944-2010)
with shock and sadness we have to inform you that Ljiljana Buttler, our dear friend and musical legend, has died.
Until the very end she fought bravely against the cruel disease that took her from us, too soon, so unexpectedly.
Our consolation is her music - that immortal part of her remains as a lasting legacy to us.
We shall never forget her.
Rest in peace!

WOMEX NR 1: RENATO BORGHETTI WOMEX SHOWCASE
This year it has finally worked: Renato Borghetti was selected for a Womex showcase! The world's main trade fair for World Music will happen in Copenhagen/Denmark from October 28th to November 1st, Renato will perform for an international audience of promoters and journalists on October 30th.
ACCORDIONISTS ON TOUR
Three of our favourite accordionists are on tour in May: Renato Borghetti is travelling across Europe (Germany, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, Belgium, France) and will use the occasion to record a live CD. Riccardo Tesi and his Banditaliana can be heard in Germany, and at the end of the month Martin Lubenov will tour in Austria with his Orkestar. Porgy&Bess in Vienna will host a three days Martin Lubenov Special including the presentation of the documentary "Jazzta Prasta". Watch out here for all live dates!.
MARTIN LUBENOV AT SOFIA INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
"Jazzta Prasta" is the title of a brandnew documentary on the Bulgarian accordion virtuoso's career between Sofia and Vienna. MARTIN LUBENOV IN CASTELFIDARDO
On october 17th Bulgarian accordion virtuoso Martin Lubenov and his MARTIN LUBENOV ORKESTAR are invited to perfom at the Festival Internazionale della Fisarmonica in Castelfidardo, the Italian "accordion Mekka" in the idyllic little town near Ancona.
